Italian Language Instructor | CELI Examiner | Cultural Educator

Born and raised in the beautiful city of Messina, Sicily, Giuseppe Villari has spent more than 15 years helping students discover the Italian language and culture through engaging, communicative, and culturally rich learning experiences. With a passion for languages and intercultural exchange, he combines academic expertise, international teaching experience, and a genuine enthusiasm for sharing the best of Italy with learners of all backgrounds.

After graduating summa cum laude in Italian Language and Culture for Foreigners, Giuseppe earned a Master's degree in Teaching Foreign Languages: New Methodologies, and continued to refine his expertise through numerous professional development courses focused on teaching Italian as a second language.
He holds the DITALS I certification from the University for Foreigners of Siena and is an accredited CELI examiner recognized by the CVCL of the University for Foreigners of Perugia.

Over the course of his career, Giuseppe has taught hundreds of students from around the world, from complete beginners to advanced speakers. His experience includes teaching at the Italian Cultural Institute in Guatemala, public school systems in Maryland (PGCPS) and Washington, DC (DCPS), the Foreign Service Institute in Arlington (VA), and Casa Italiana Language School in Washington, DC, where he currently teaches and serves on the CELI examination committee. Among his many students have been diplomats, military personnel, and DEA agents preparing for international assignments, as well as professionals, heritage learners, travelers, and lifelong lovers of Italian culture.

Known for his energetic and student-centered teaching style, Giuseppe believes that language learning should go far beyond textbooks. His classes incorporate authentic materials, real-life communication, cultural exploration, and interactive activities that encourage students to use Italian with confidence from the very beginning.

Giuseppe enjoys the energy and sense of community that develop in group classes, where students learn from one another while sharing their passion for Italy. At the same time, he is equally dedicated to one-on-one instruction, tailoring lessons to individual goals such as exam preparation, professional development, travel, citizenship requirements, or specific proficiency targets. Whether working with a classroom of students or coaching an individual learner, he strives to create a supportive, motivating, and enjoyable learning environment.

Beyond language instruction, Giuseppe is also passionate about Italian food and gastronomy. He has developed cultural and educational programs that explore Italy through its culinary traditions, helping students deepen their understanding of the country's history, regional diversity, and way of life.
Giuseppe's goal is simple: to help every student feel confident using Italian in the real world while discovering the people, culture, traditions, and stories that make Italy such a fascinating place. Whether in person or online, he believes that learning Italian should be both meaningful and fun.
