An exploration into the expressive art of Italian ‘Disegno’, combining lecture, demonstrations and hands-on exercises (using live models as well as reproductions of Master drawings).
While touching on various styles and formal ideas of Italian draftsmanship, students will learn to interpret the figure with more clarity by visualizing forms in a more dimensional manner. In exploring the language of classical drawing students are exposed to lost concepts used by artists such as Michelangelo, who fused imaginary vision with an intense observation of nature.
Cross hatching and its association with ‘Form Drawing’ will be used in order to describe shapes. Basic proportion, foreshortening, anatomy, perspective and taking measurements will be addressed.
Open to all levels.
CREATING ITALIAN MASTER DRAWINGS
About the Instructor
For more than 10 years Mr. Bogdan has been teaching his highly informative approach to figure drawing through schools such as the Smithsonian and the Corcoran. He worked in Italy for a year as a ‘Madonnaro’ in order to fund his study of Italian art. He has also practiced sculptue extensively, using a neo-classical approach which has greatly informed his knowledge of the figure. He has been featured in International Artist magazine. He is currently represented by Calloway Fine Art (Georgetown) DC and his work may also be seen at here.
